Rooms in stone houses we rebuilt by hand, meals from the farm, and a family that has always lived here.
The house
The houses in Thumka were built by our grandparents from what the hill gave them: stone, red mud and timber. When the village emptied, they were left to the forest.
We rebuilt them with the same materials and the same skills, so a stay here is the real thing: simple, solid and warm, with the whole valley outside the window.

About 1,600 metres above sea level. Days are mild for most of the year, but mornings and evenings are cool, so bring a warm layer in every season.
Yes, but two nights or more gives you a full day in the village, a sunrise on the ridge and time to walk the trails without rushing.
Yes. It is a hill village, so there are steps and slopes, but walks can be as short or as long as you like. Tell us who is coming and we will plan around it.
Thumka is in Namobuddha Municipality, Kavrepalanchok, reached by road via Dhulikhel. Call us before you set off and we will guide you the last stretch.
